The quick decision

Who it suits

Shortlist K380s for travel or limited desk space. Consider K780 for regular numerical entry and its phone/tablet cradle, after confirming your device fits.

Key differences

K380s has a narrower layout without a number pad and supports optional Logi Bolt. K780 adds a number pad and cradle and uses the different Unifying receiver family.

What to check

Bolt and Unifying are not interchangeable. Check host support and exact package contents; typing feel, noise, battery life, and durability were not tested.

Quick answer: Start with the Pebble Keys 2 K380s if a narrow keyboard and portability matter more than a dedicated number pad. Put the K780 on your shortlist if you enter numbers frequently and want its built-in phone or tablet cradle. Neither is a universal winner: your layout and connection requirements decide.

Specifications checked September 21, 2026. This comparison is based on Logitech documentation and matching Amazon listings. We have not tested these keyboards; typing feel, noise, wireless performance, and durability are not rated.

Choose the layout by counting tasks

For a day, note how often you enter long strings of numbers versus ordinary text. Occasional order numbers may not justify carrying a number pad everywhere. Repeated spreadsheet entries may make dedicated number keys more valuable than the desk space saved by the K380s. This is a workflow decision, not a claim that either layout makes everyone faster.

The roughly four-inch width difference is substantial on a narrow desk. Cut two paper strips to the published widths and place each where you normally type. Keep the letter section centered where you want it, then check whether the mouse still has enough room. Do this with your actual notebook, mug, and other desk items in place. A keyboard fitting inside the desk edges is not the same as the whole setup fitting comfortably.

The K780 cradle can replace one accessory—not every stand

Logitech documents a built-in device holder on the K780, with device-thickness limits. Measure your phone or tablet with its usual case attached, and check the current support instructions before relying on the cradle. A case, kickstand, or unusual camera shape may change the fit. See the K780 setup guide.

Think about placement too. If the screen needs to sit elsewhere on your desk, an integrated cradle may add little value. If you often type short replies on a phone beside a computer, keeping the phone immediately behind the keys may match your workflow. The K380s leaves that positioning decision to a separate stand.

Do not buy the wrong USB receiver

The K380s supports Logi Bolt; its standalone keyboard package does not include the receiver. The K780 uses Unifying. These are different receiver families, and Logitech explicitly says they are not cross-compatible. An existing Unifying receiver is therefore not a reason to choose the K380s unless you plan to connect it another way. K380s connection instructions; Logitech receiver compatibility notice.

Both offer Bluetooth device switching, but check every intended host’s operating-system support. A work laptop may also restrict Bluetooth or optional software. Basic typing and app-specific customization are separate questions; do not assume a customization feature available on a desktop also exists on a tablet.

Which one belongs on your shortlist?

  • Frequent travel or limited mouse space: the K380s has the smaller published width and lower listed weight.
  • Regular numerical entry: the K780 provides a dedicated number pad without adding a separate keypad.
  • Phone or tablet beside a computer: consider the K780’s cradle, after confirming device fit.
  • An existing receiver-based setup: match the receiver family before comparing the keyboard price.

Do not choose from a battery-life headline or product photo alone. Verify layout first, connections second, and the complete package third. If typing feel is your deciding factor, documentation cannot settle it; choose a purchase route whose return conditions you have checked.
